It has been brought to the notice of the Governor

that you have received a fee for the preparation of the

Petition forwarded by certain Chinese inhabitants with

reference to the Public Tealth and Buildings Bill now

being considered and also that you have received a fes

of $300 for the preparation of the Petition forwarded by

certain Chinese inhabitants with reference to the Water

Works Consolidation Ordinance lately passed.

I am directed by His Excellency to inquire from

you if these statements are correct.
